Building a required, virtual, voice-supported library skills course: an Israeli experience

New students at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Be'er Sheva, Israel, are required to take a completely virtual library skills course that utilizes new voice technology developed in Israel. The course, which the student may take from any computer at his/her convenience, is made up of lessons (PowerPoint screens and accompanying spoken explanations), hands-on exercises and a final exam. This article explains why and how the course was designed and suggests further improvements of the system.
